[Honestly it's really questionable how Kano got here. Was he sent here for a reason? Was he sucked into a random portal? Is he just waking up with no idea of how he got here?

Ultimately it doesn't matter, because it's a nice warm afternoon in the absolute middle of fucking nowhere, a nice little clearing in a nice big forest, the sounds of a creek bubbling off to the left, and apparently zero people around. Good times, huh?]

[after making several attempts with his cell phone to contact someone he has given up and has taken to instead wandering towards the creek. if youre lost u should find water. right??? did he read that somewhere??]

as you get closer to the creek you can sort of hear voices on the edge of your hearing, almost drowned out by the bubbling of water, but not quite. especially not when a peal of familiar laughter rings out over it, much louder.]

[there's a lag of like a minute and then WAY MORE OBVIOUS RUSTLING for like ten seconds, and a couple of muffled, masculine shouts that aren't familiar at all. and then Zeno bursts out wordlessly, eyes wide, looking at Kano with clear recognition.]

Mostly modern Earth times except magic is pretty common thing, it's treated a lot like a specialized medical/science field in practice. Most people don't know more than basics, professionals get super in depth because oh my god you will die if you fuck it up, and pop culture gets every other detail wrong or over-fantasizes.

magical creatures are also a thing, though rarely bothered nowadays. All large dragon species are extinct and a lot of what remain are endangered (Harry Potter books exist, but they have chimeras instead of dragons), thus why Eliza is a necromancer. she wanted to summon big dragons as a beastmaster but they were all DEAD.

[there's an archaeological dig out in South Korea that seems to have hit upon something interesting, the remains of some king or other interred deep underneath a castle, all very cool and interesting but not particularly supernatural, except that when they run the typical tests, the specimen's DNA comes up way more similar to that of a dragon than a human. the disconnect hasn't hit the mainstream media circuit yet, but it has kicked up a fuss on more specialized social media, like if she follows the right people there's a lot of debate about it.]

hi i got very sidetracked by pixel cards and lost what i'd written of this but

ZENO'S DEAL is that he's immortal in a few senses. He cannot die of old age! He cannot age! He cannot starve to death or anything like that! He cannot get sick! He regenerates when hurt and grows a layer of nigh impenetrable scales over formerly injured bits for liiike half an hour, i'd say, before they fade away and boy looks normal again.

he was NOT born this way! he used to be a-- ok he was never normal. he was a boy who could hear the voice of the gods, and at one point a dragon god asked for his help in protecting the dragon's sibling, who had turned into a human. zeno agreed, and drank the dragon's blood, and gained the powers of that dragon! he became a ~dragon warrior~ alongside three others who had drank the blood of three other dragons. buuuut the dragon did not remotely explain its powers, and it took zeno years to figure out exactly what was up with him, especially since the other three were ACTUAL WARRIORS with CLEARLY UTILITARIAN ABILITIES and VISIBLE DRAGON BITS, and he was just some useless boy on the battlefield who could do approximately jack shit.

anyway they and the former dragon who is now a king BUILT A COUNTRY and like 2k years later all of this is a country creation myth, as you do. zeno wanders the country as a shady lil bum and the rest of the dragon warriors have a clan/pseudo-hereditary line thing going, all in really isolated locations where no one can fucking find them TO PROTECT THEIR DERGS or just, hide their shame, depending on the village. the country itself is having tense political issues because the king is... not a good king, actually, so it's hemorrhaging land given to stronger countries to maintain peace, and the country's infrastructure is pretty shit, people are starving in this country, etc. shit sucks man. also the whole aesthetic is fantasy historical korean it's really pretty.
